Just because you are driven by excellence in life does not mean you can do everything that comes along. I believe that our greatest strengths can also be our greatest weaknesses. When life gets out of balance I tend to operate in weakness. I care too much about what other people think so I tend to say yes to whatever is asked. The result is not healthy.
Several years ago I learned about a test that helps identify our strengths. The results freed me to focus on what I can and should do. It also gave me the courage to say no to those things that I should not do. It isn’t an excuse to say no to what is asked or assigned but it gives a strong platform to explain why you are not the best resource for the situation. When interviewing for a job I provide the test results to the interviewer. It provides information that goes deeper than a resume.
The test is not limited to workplace application. It has been used for premarital counseling, therapeutic counseling, personal curiosity, character building and more.
Clifton Strengths formerly known as Strength Finders is a reliable tool to use. It certainly isn’t the only tool available but it has stood the test of time and is reliable.
Here is a link so you can find more information. It is a good investment.
