One in three people dealing with an eating disorder is male.
Within the United States eating disorders will affect 6.6 million males at some point in their lives. It is a common assumption that men dealing with eating disorders are gay. That is not the case. Men are less likely to seek treatment due to gender bias and cultural influences.
Both men and women are driven to have the their version of a perfect body. They become obsessed and resort to unhealthy solutions. Binging and purging, steroid use, abuse of laxatives and fasting are the tools to reach their version of perfection. Life stressors can trigger the cycles of food abuse.
This blog will be my story, my life.
I am glad you are along for the ride.
